Story
I typically part ways with my original paintings shortly after creation, but this one marked an exception. It lingered in my studio, untouched by the prospect of finding a new home for an entire year. Unusually attached, I formed a deep emotional bond with this piece—a departure from my usual style, infused with human emotion rarely explored in my work. This painting captures the contemplative essence of an orangutan behind scratched perspex at Berlin Zoo, drawn from my own 2016 reference photo. I invite you as the viewer to explore your emotions when you see this piece, happiness or perhaps sadness?
