Story
I love hearing stories about how many people feel similar to certain animals. Elephants are one of those animals and I often hear how people relate to them spiritually and through their family values.
Elephants are incredible creatures. They uphold incredibly high family standards and care to their young. Their gentle natures beautifully contrast with the power they can turn when faced with danger and threats to their families. Inspired by a visit to an exhibition on seeing David Yarrow's work on elephants in large scale, I wanted to recreate a version in my own style that highlights the characteristics I saw in Elephants on my research. Road to Kilimanjaro depicts the big tusked elephants that guard the vast mountain landscape behind and almost mirror the same shape and stature, showing how they are both one and the same.
