Story
I met this young buck passing through Glencoe in the summer. After spending a very wet day trying to locate stags, I finally found a group fairly close to the road near Glen Etive. Out of the three, one in particular really captured my attention. He had the most incredible golden eyes paired with beautiful soft velvet antlers. A slight cheeky head tilt in my direction, I knew I had to paint him!
I’m very fortunate to have my long lens, as I can take some great shots without disturbing the wildlife I come across. That unfortunately wasn’t the motive for everyone though, someone in a very noisy poncho decided to try and walk right up to them to “pet” them and the stags subsequently left the area. Lucky I got this shot in first and could admire them moving on to the next grazing patch away from the hustle!
