Story
After being inspired by tigers in their natural habitat, during my research into the Bengal tigers of the Himalayas, I came across a fascinating story about a temple priest who claimed to a forester that he had seen a tiger near his temple. Normally this wouldn't have been out of the ordinary, but this particular priest's temple was 2000ft above where the tiger's known habitats were recorded. Reporting this to a local program in the WWF, they agreed to set up 62 camera traps higher up in the mountains to try and capture this. To the researcher’s surprise, a tiger was indeed caught on camera at those heights shattering previous tiger recordings in Nepal. However, this was not the final heights a tiger was to be caught at, with one recording after this showing a tiger at an incredible 14,400ft in the small Himalayan country of Bhutan.
This story inspired me to create the concept for "Guardian of the Himalayas", a solitary tiger guarding his vast mountain range in the distance, a nod to the incredible nature of these animals who can withstand conditions that humans could not, but also the role they play in that ecosystem up in the high mountains. An awe inspiring moment in nature, in cinematic format.
