Saving one of Scotland's icons.
The Scottish wildcat is one of Britain’s rarest and most threatened mammals. Once widespread, they are now on the brink of extinction in Scotland after generations of habitat loss, persecution and interbreeding with domestic cats.
Known fondly as the Highland tiger, this remarkable native cat is being given a future through Saving Wildcats: an RZSS-led partnership breeding and releasing wildcats into the Cairngorms National Park, while working to reduce threats and support coexistence between wildcats and people.
